If you like the constructions that can be seen in the Plaza de Armas of Areuipa, you will like to know the place where the material for its construction came from. The ashlar is a volcanic rock of the ignimbrite type that was used since past times, used due to the scarcity of construction materials such as wood and brick.
Today we find white ashlar in Arequipa, both in buildings and in its quarries. We can also find pink, orange and shades of gray ashlar.
The Ruta del Sillar is one of the most popular routes in Arequipa as it combines volcanic rock formations that are used by artisans of sillar.
We will also visit the Cuñebrillas canyon, which is nothing more than a ravine formed by nature itself and the passage of water.

At the indicated time you will be picked up from your accommodation. Then we will transport you, we will travel the Uchumayo road until we reach the ashlar stone quarries, where we will make a guided tour to learn about the work of the stonemasons, a tradition that comes from decades ago.
After enjoying this wonderful art, we will walk for half an hour to the Culebrillas canyon. Here we will do a bit of hiking in the rocky outcrops that can measure up to 20 meters in height and some of them have petroglyphs, cave symbols engraved on the rock whose meaning is a mystery.
After visiting these unique sites we will return to the center of Arequipa.
