Tour Details

The Colca Canyon is located in southern Peru and is famous for being one of the deepest in the world. It is an ideal destination for those who love hiking. It is the habitat of the giant Andean condor, which can be observed from the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint.

It is believed that they lived in these valleys about 8,000 years ago, and traces of more than 5,000 years have been found in the Sumbay cave. Currently you can appreciate terraces with more than 1000 years old that are still used for agriculture.

Itinerary

Day 1Arequipa - Chivay - Chacapi

We will pick you up very early from your hotel to leave Arequipa in the direction of the city of Chivay, on a 3-hour road trip. We will stop along the way in Yanque where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast. From here, we will continue our journey to the Cruz del Cóndor, where you can see birds that can measure up to 3 m with their wings outstretched. We will visit the viewpoint observing the flight of these birds. Then, we will continue by car through Choquetico, Maca and Antahuilque, a viewpoint where we will be able to appreciate the Colca Valley in all its splendor and the pre-Inca terraces that are still used to plant grains and other crops to this day.

Afterwards we will relax in the hot springs of Chacapi to relax for an hour. Later, we will go back to Chivay, where we will stop for lunch at a tourist restaurant. After lunch, we will visit the Mirador de Volcanes, which has a unique view of all the volcanoes that surround the area, and the Cañahuas National Reserve, a wetland that is home to vicuñas and alpacas.
