Prepare for a day filled with the vivid colors of Rainbow Mountain with your day trip from Cusco. We’ll commence our journey early in the morning, setting off from Cusco. The drive will take you through scenic landscapes and charming villages. This will lead us to the starting point of our trek at the foot of Rainbow Mountain.
Once at the base of the mountain, we’ll embark on our trek. Remember that we’re dealing with a high altitude area of approximately 5200 meters (17060 feet) above sea level. It’s an uphill journey for about 1.5 hours, but we’ll take it slow, ensuring everyone can comfortably acclimatize.
Reaching the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the multicolored terrain. It’s an enchanting sight with layers of vibrant hues contrasting against the sky. We’ll spend around 30 minutes at the summit. During this time, you can explore, take photographs, or simply soak in the splendid panorama around you.
If you choose and if time prevails, there is an optional trek. This trek is to the nearby Red Valley, an equally beautiful site known for its reddish landscapes. This detour will add another 30 minutes to your adventure, but it’s a sight worth seeing.
After your time at the summit, we’ll descend the mountain. The way down is easier and faster. Then, we’ll return to our transport and begin our journey back to Cusco.

The colors of Vinicunca Mountain are a result of mineral deposits.
It normally takes two hours on an average at a normal pace to reach to the summit of Vinicunca mountain from the base camp.
It is recommended to spend three days in Cusco before the trek. Generally your body should get accustomed to the altitude in two days. However in some cases (depending on age or any sickness) it can take upto a week.
